iPhone 11 Pro Full Review: Triple Camera, Big Battery and Powerful Chipset
Apple launched its latest flagship phone, iPhone 11 Pro in September 2019. While it seems like iPhone 12 takes a while to come out, iPhone 11 series is the best option right now. It looks like a follow-up to iPhone XS, with alike design and screen, some big upgraded cameras, large battery, improved performance, and the all-new Apple U1 wideband chip. But to be sure, don’t let the look fool you, there’s a lot to explore.
It comes with a triple-camera setup that is inside a glossy finished camera protective glass and the rear of the phone has the frosted finish – Opposite to iPhone 11 – which has a matte camera square and polished shiny finish. The cameras have improved, the ultra-wide camera is here in addition to wide-angle and telephoto cameras. The attention has been given to the front camera too, it packs a 12 MP wide-angle camera.
The water resistance has been improved, now the IP68 can endure submerged up to 4 meters deep in the water. It features 5.8 inches Super Retina XDR OLED display, offering a 2426 x 1125 resolution. The new things that are included in it are HDR support, a 2000000:1 contrast ratio, and a brightness of 800 nits max, true tone, and wide color. Finally, the iPhone 11 Pro now has a 20% larger battery than the XS. Making this the go-to phone, if you want all the flagship features in a single iPhone.
Design and Display
The iPhone 11 Pro looks pretty similar to iPhone X and XS, the only thing is – it is now 10g heavier. The front is just the same, with a 5.8 inches OLED display with an enormous notch at the top. To provide the bezel-less feeling, the screen controller is actually under the screen so no space is wasted at the bottom. Despite that, you can see some thin black strips which are equal in size, around the OLED screen. The huge notch contains a couple of sensors, the 3D TOF sensor, the new 12 MP camera, and an earpiece.
The screen is protected by a custom Gorilla Glass made by Corning, it’s an improved version since the one used in the iPhone X lineup. Also, Apple has applied Oleophobic coating creating a barrier against fingerprints and smudges.
The back of the phone has a camera square with a glossy glass finish, and it packs a triple camera set-up, including a wide, telephoto, and ultra-wide/angle sensors. The rear panel is made up of two new textures now with the same ion-strengthened glass by corning, but for the first time, the finish is not glossy *which Apple has named textured matte glass(. And the camera square is made up of glossy glass finish as iPhone 11’s rear panel.
iPhone 11 Pro holds the same buttons around the frame like its predecessor. The volume rockers and a silent switch are situated on the left and the power button on the right. This phone is taller, wider, and thicker (0.4mm taller, 0.5mm wider, and 0.4mm thicker) than the iPhone XS and it weighs 188g ( 11 gram heavier than XS). This model fits perfectly in hand and one-handed operations are pretty easy too. You will enjoy the phone definitely while doing different kinds of stuff like reading, scrolling through social media news feeds, or simply enjoying high definition videos, ergo providing you the best display experience ever.
iPhone 11 Pro Max Full Review
Camera
The iPhone 11 Pro features a new triple camera in the rear and a dual camera as its selfie camera. There were already two cameras on the XS, including a wide and a telephoto camera. The new addition to the camera is the ultra-wide-angle sensor. The camera square on the rear has a 12MP wide-angle camera situated behind the f/1.8 aperture lens, a 12MP telephoto camera with the f/2.0 aperture lens, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera situated behind the f/2.4 aperture lens, and an improved dual-LED dual-tone flashlight.
Both the wide-angle camera and telephoto camera features optical image stabilization. The telephoto has Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF) and a remarkable 2x optical zoom, whereas the wide camera has dual pixel Phase Detection AutoFocus.
The best feature here is the dedicated Night Mode and the fun part here is you don’t have to switch between modes as the camera automatically does it for you as soon as it detects there are not enough lights. The ultra-wide works great in capturing landscapes. It offers nice accurate colors, decent sharpness, and better rendition in images. The image has plenty of resolved details, low noise, and the dynamic range is pretty much great.
The front camera has improved since the previous iPhone, now there is a 12 MP wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture lens. The front camera can also shoot 4K video at 24/30/60fps. Its true depth camera can capture 120fps slo-mo videos for the first time, enabling a new feature that Apple has called “Solfies”. The selfie camera offers Smart HDR and their quality is excellent. The images have many details, they are sharp but not over-sharpened, with great dynamic range and decent colors.
The video recording offers all kinds of resolution and frame-rates with all three cameras. The videos are digitally and optically stabilized (except in ultra-wide) all thanks to the cinematic video stabilization. It features 4K at 60fps with excellent dynamic range due to the new smart HDR. There is a slow-mo option at 1080p at 240fps (same as iPhone X and XS). With the stereo video recording, you can enjoy richer and deeper sound compared to just regular stereo.
With the factory calibration, white balance and exposure settings, now you can feel and enjoy smooth switching between all three cameras (ultrawide, wide, and telephoto shooters) while zooming during the video capturing. The videos you capture are excellent with many details and low noise, decent foliage presentation, spot on sharpness, and life-like colors.
Chipset
Apple iPhone 11 Pro is powered by the next-generation A13 Bionic chip, which packs a hexacore processor with 2×2.65 GHz Lightning high-performance cores and 4×1.8 GHz thunder efficient CPU cores. The lightning cores are 20 percent faster and 30 percent more efficient. The four efficiency cores are up to 20 percent faster and use up to 40 percent less power. The GPU in A12, which is 20 percent faster than the GPU in A12 and now it uses 40 percent less power. With all this, the phone offers higher sustained graphic performance than the iPhone XS.
The chip features the third generation Neural Engine with 8 cores, which is faster than ever for real-time photo and video analysis. It is up to 20 percent faster and uses up to 15 percent less power than the previous-generation Neural Engine. It is in charge of features like Deep Fusion and Night mode. It comes with 4GB RAM combined with internal storage variants of 64GB, 256GB and 512GB. Multitasking is smoother, scrolling, browsing, and enjoying other features is more promising than it was ever before.
