Xiaomi MI 10 With Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, 30W Fast Charging, 5G, 108MP Camera

Xiaomi officially launched Mi 10 back in February and nearly half a year later, it is one of the best smartphones of its range. Powered by the new generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip, it has WIFI 6 and 5G connectivity. It is fueled by a large 4780 mAh battery and runs on Android 10 with Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 skin. 6.67 inches FHD+ curved Super AMOLED display and quad camera on the rear with an impressive 108 MP main sensor introducing 8K video are the top-selling points of this phone.

MI 10 has been in competition with the flagship phone Samsung S20 plus in terms of price-performance ratio. Though many competitors have come along, MI 10 still holds its own after months of release. Majority of features at a reasonable price is what makes this phone on demand.

MI 10 Design and Display

Xiaomi MI 10 comes with Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen sized 6.67 inches with 89.8% screen-to-body ratio. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the screen and provides sleek and glossy looks front and back. The ample amount of brightness solves your concerns in sunny outdoor situations. Edge to edge immersive display is super bright with maximum value up to 400 nits and vibrant with good color reproduction. Super AMOLED display works great in dark mode, recommended for less effects to your eyes during longer use.

It has a rear camera setup in a nice line at the top left and a tiny little punchhole cutout at the top left that houses the selfie camera. The under display fingerprint sensor is fine while the face unlock is just great.

MI 10 has a solution for accidental touches in the curved screen. You can always create a margin at the edges of the screen from settings to block side touches. It is recommended to use the phone with a transparent case that comes in the packaging due to the camera bump in the rear.

Chipset

Xiaomi has left no stone unturned in upgrading the performance of the MI 10. It is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip, an octa-core processor (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 585 + 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 585 + 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 585) paired with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM (12 GB maximum available) and UFS 3.0 ROM technology. The internal storage is of 128 GB (256 GB maximum available).

Get ready to have your expectations surpassed. You can feel nice and smooth while scrolling the phone, gaming and browsing the internet with a refresh rate of 90Hz. It’s certainly undeniable that Xiaomi’s MIUI is always one of the fastest.

Camera

The performance of the primary sensor of 108MP is very much comparable to Samsung S20 Plus and S20 Ultra. The images have excellent color, good dynamic range and contrast. The 13MP ultra wide-angle lens gives fantastic detail, more noticeable when the image is zoomed or cropped. However, the phone comes with a little flaw in the placement of the ultra wide-angle camera and lack of night mode. The 2MP macro lens is not so useful in terms of its performance, but 2MP depth sensor does a good job.

Xiaomi has made commendable progress in the front camera. The 20MP lens offers excellent details with good sharpness and natural color tone. Regardless of the some cons that comes along, this overall camera performance justifies the flagship title for this device.

The camera placement in a line at the top left certainly gives an elegant outlook to the phone, but it is not so handy. Often, there are chances of accidental blockage by the fingers on the camera lens while shooting videos or capturing photos. However, these are not the great problems as you can consider changing the way you handle the phone.

The video performance is quite mediocre in comparison to its competitors but still good. The rear camera supports 8K at 30fps, 4K at 30/60fps and 1080p at 30/60fp. The front camera is limited to 1080p, there is no 4k or 60fps, a disadvantage for video creators. Though the color reproduction and other aspects for front video shoot are a bit compromising, the microphone provides a bonus point in video shooting as it suppresses the background noises. Hopefully, Xiaomi will work on the video performance in the coming lineups and maintain the flagship title of the brand.

Battery and Connectivity

Nearly a full day of continuous screen time is just as incredible one can expect from the 4780 mAh cell. 30 watts fast charging is equally impressive and that too with wireless charging technology as well. It takes just about an hour to fully load the battery. The battery and display combo as well as the liquid cooling system have helped long-period use like watching movies and gaming.

It has Xiaomi’s advanced 5G multiLink technology. Redefining the limits of networking technology, MI 10 supports 5G WIFI standard, WIFI 6. You can access up to multiple networks at a time, allowing simultaneous connection upto 3 networks (2.4 GHz WIFI + 5GHz WIFI + 4G / 5G) to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.
