Samsung Galaxy M31 Review: 6000mAh Battery, Gaming Chipset, Price in Nepal

The all-new Samsung Galaxy M31 is the latest in the lineup of best smartphones at affordable prices. It is the predecessor of M30 with some radical changes, basically, camera to meet the 2020 standard. With the latest Android 10 and a massive battery, the phone stands out from other smartphones in its price range.

It has all the coolest specs like Crisp AMOLED display, excellent battery life, sleek and glossy look, lightweight, excellent software with decent performance, really good daylight camera experience to name a few. Though it misses some features like low light camera, poor video stability, and the same battery as before. Samsung is known for offering value for money. There are only some competitors of M31 in the market like Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

Design and Display

Samsung Galaxy M31 has a simple and easy design with a sleek and glossy look. The front of the phone has the display going right up to the edge that has a water drop notch for the front camera. The bottom has a chin that won’t be much of a disturbance but serves as a place to hold the phone while watching videos in landscape. On the left it has a volume button and a power button, the right side has a tray for sim and microSD. The bottom of the phone holds a headphone jack, USB-C port, and a loudspeaker.

The top left corner of the back of the phone holds a camera bump with 4 cameras and a flash. Near to the camera, the bump has the fingerprint sensor with a standard fingerprint reading for a lightning-fast unlock experience. The plastic design makes it sturdy and handy though it doesn’t have IP dust and water-resistant. As it is made of it is durable than a glass phone, but it can be prone to scratches.

Samsung Galaxy M31 features a 6.4-inches Super AMOLED display with 2340×1080 resolution. Due to the U-Shaped notch, this makes this Infinity-U Display which is termed by Samsung. You’ll get a vivid display, but with the natural display, it gets even better. The brightness and the color saturation is seemingly awesome, not as good as the AMOLED panel of other expensive Samsung phones.

Chipset

The Samsung Galaxy M31 runs on Samsung’s latest One UI 2 on top of Android 10. It is powered by Exynos 9611 (10nm) with an Octa-core processor and has Mali-G72 MP3 Graphics. All this with a 6/8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, enough for the smoothest ride on any smartphone you’d ever have at this price range.

The phone is quite fast and you’ll feel smooth while doing stuff like going through the menu, scrolling the social media news feed, opening various apps, multitasking, and so on. You can play heavier games like PUBG and Call of Duty with ease. The chipset simply dominates other phones in this range in terms of its performance. This phone is pretty darn good for educational, gaming, and entertainment purposes.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy M31 features a fantastic Quad camera setup with a 64 MP wide-angle camera with f/1.8 aperture as a primary shooter. It also has an 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 and a 123-degree field of view, 5MP with f/2.4 aperture macro lens, and 5MP with f/2.2 aperture Depth Vision sensor. The camera comes with many features like natural mode, live focus, panorama, HDR, and so on.

You surely won’t complain about the camera as it has improved a lot than its previous version (M30). The scene optimizer is quick to detect scenes and set the camera accordingly. The photo is pretty standard with sharp color, contrast, and has a great dynamic range, moreover, every picture you take will have a lot of details. But learn to be patient for great results.

Video recording lets you capture videos at 4K both primary and selfie cameras. It has the super steady mode that uses the wide-angle camera that minimizes shakes, well-stabilized results were there using this mode although it lacked details. The 4K does not support stabilization.

The selfie shooter is 32MP with an f/2.0 aperture wide-angle camera that lets you shoot a fine selfie. The front camera also shoots 4K video but with poor stabilization. Though the wide camera lets you shoot stabilized videos the video might fail to capture every detail.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy M31 has a massive 6000mAh Li-Po battery is what makes the M31 special in its edition. It provides a whole day endurance, even for heavy users. You get a 15W fast charging, which won’t take much time to charge this device. So if you feed this beast in the morning before heading out, you’ll still have plenty of power left for your night gaming or movie session.
